    return!

So, after being told by Adam, Amanda, and Xanga itself to come back and write an entry, I am finally complying.  Why not?  I'm in the language lab, and no one else is - it's a pretty boring job... I hope the fact that I am updating at last makes you guys happy :)

This semester's been going pretty well so far, just busy.  It's a little sad because both Kelly and Sarah are out of the country - Kelly in Austria and Sarah in China.  I'm jealous :) and also very excited to be going to China this summer and Germany next year.  I had a little scare about my China trip recently, actually.  I got a frantic email from Expedia saying, "URGENT: All Nippon Airways has made major changes to your flight itinerary.  Contact us immediately."  It was Sunday, so I didn't want to call until Monday, but that morning I got another, much calmer email, more like, "hey, there were some changes, just so you know, it's no big deal."  So I compared my original flight plans to the new ones, and there was like a ten minute difference.  Why did they have to scare me like that??

Next week is spring break!  I am sooo excited.  I'm mostly going to be hanging out at home, but I'm going to Chicago for a couple days where hopefully I can see Caitlin, Erin, and Amanda H and also apply for my Chinese visa.  So that will be cool, I love Chicago.  And Regina is riding with me back to Kansas City!  It's going to be some amazing times.  We're already planning what to listen to, like:

Yenna Solla Pogirai from Kandukondain Kandukondain (gotta love Bollywood awesomeness!)
Le Vieil Amant - Emilie Simon is so cool.
Memories - which reminds me!  Eisley is coming back to KC (well Lawrence actually)... on a Monday.  They are dumb.  I want to go...
Glittering Clouds - Imogen Heap.  I just recently found this song and I love it soo much.

And also the entire Spamalot soundtrack, which I have never heard but Regina promises is great.  I believe her.  Fun times lie ahead.

I'm trying to put off my Russian homework for as long as possible... I really don't want to do it... Fortunately our test got pushed back to Friday.  That's going to be soo nice.  Except for lunch and a few small breaks, I'm not going to have time for homework until like 10 tonight.  Which is, I guess, all the more reason I should do it now - for some reason though the language lab makes it so hard to focus.

But I think it's finally time to force myself to be productive.  I would love to skip Russian tutoring today to do homework, but somehow I don't think Professor Beane would be happy with me...

    So Jealous

Hmm.  I probably should update now, considering it's been exactly two months since my last post.  What has changed in my life, you may be wondering?  Or maybe you aren't.  Either way, you shall find out.

Today was the AP English Literature test.  It was very long and not so much fun, but happily afterwards we didn't have to stay in school.  So I have been relaxing and doing my German homework.  Fun times.

I had a good time in New York, and though our team didn't win a delegation award we did win for our position papers.  All that work paid off...  I got to meet a lot of cool people from all over the world and go to a Broadway show!  It was "Beauty and the Beast" and Jess and Jill and I went for only $25 because we got the last standing room tickets.

I have decided to go to Truman State for sure.  Yay!  It's good to finally know where I'm going.  I'm really looking forward to next year.  Graduation cannot be here soon enough...

Now I am going to be unoriginal and copy off Sarah (well, sort of...); these are some of the songs that I am listening to at the moment.  Not that this is important information, I am just trying to put off cleaning stuff for the band garage sale.

    - "I Won't Be Left" by Tegan & Sara
    - "Build God, Then We'll Talk" by Panic! At the Disco
    - "Bittersweet" by Apocalyptica
    - "Trouble Sleeping" by the Punishers
    - "Stop" by Yulia Savicheva
    - "Deep River" by Utada Hikaru

After that bit of randomness, I shall sign off and go try to install the software for my digital camera.  I've had it for six months, you'd think I would have done this already...

Working on my position paper for Mali for New York.  This is the worst part of MUN... these papers take FOREVER.  I also have to finish my English project this weekend... luckily I don't have too much more to do there.

Pride and Prejudice is the greatest movie ever.  I watched it again last night... I am moving to England asap.

I got some semi-bad news yesterday.  Turns out I've been turned down for the scholarship I applied for at Washington U in St. Louis, which means I probably won't be going there.  I'm kind of sad, but I'm really just zen about this whole college process, so I figure it's probably for the best.

So I know I haven't updated in about a million years.  Well, I'm back at home now, and it's pretty nice.  Yesterday was my interview for a big scholarship at Truman State - I think it went well.  It's also my mom's birthday today, and so we'll probably go out to eat or something.

    Exciting recent events:

    - Forking the lawn.  That was so much fun!  Go seniors!
    - My first German and MUN classes at JCCC.  Ich liebe Deutsch!
    - Working out plans for Spring Break and this summer.  Spring Break: couple days in Arizona with family.  Summer: Europe!  Sweden, Latvia, Germany, and U.K.  I'm super excited, especially since my parents say I can stay an extra week or so after they leave with Doro in Germany.  Yay!

That's about all for now, I suppose.  I can't wait for college...

  • My Christmas package STILL hasn't arrived.  Me and the postal system are totally in a fight.

Abby is in from Liepaja and it's really fun having her!  What with her and Doro and I in one house, it's like a huge exchange student party.  Good times.

Yesterday we all went to this Snow White on ice production.  It was pretty weird.  Since when is Snow White blonde?  At least it was Russian and not Latvian.

Leaving you with a picture -

Doro and I in the ice hall, having hot choco from our favorite hot choco machine.

So it's not the greatest pic of either of us.  Oh well.  My hair is getting really long... at least for me.

    Happy New Year!
